Description

As a Principal Product Designer, you will lead the overall design process for highly complex, cross-functional requirements for mobile apps, ensuring consistency in design across the company. You will develop innovative design solutions, resolve design deficiencies across multiple projects and teams, and provide consultation grounded in industry best practices. You will work with designers, engineers, and content developers to deliver design projects on time and often provide creative approval of work by others.

Responsibilities

  • Drive alignment to design standards and industry best practices

  • Oversee architecture and design of high-quality, engaging customer and associate experiences

  • Lead the most complex design projects across product groups/portfolios; own overall design decisions across design domains with significant business impact

  • Review and sign off on high-impact, high-visibility design projects

  • Champion product design best practices, innovation, and trends; set standards for product design excellence

  • Resolve complex design problems at a cross-portfolio enterprise level; simplify/optimize/remove bottlenecks

  • Build and sustain cross-functional partnerships to improve execution efficiency and design quality

  • Maintain expert knowledge of company-standard and unique processes, technologies, platforms, and services

  • Coach, direct, and approve designs for other product designers; facilitate complex design decisions

  • Provide thought leadership and advice to optimize designs across the team

  • Help shape and drive the team’s roadmap with product and engineering leads

  • Provide input into departmental budget forecasting and allocation decisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in interaction design, graphic design, industrial design, or related field (or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education)

  • 10 years of experience in user experience design

  • Experience defining and enforcing product design standards

  • Experience building strategic cross-functional partnerships to drive overall design capability
