Description

You will lead the technical further development of a multi-tenant platform architecture, design new cloud services, and set the technical direction for cloud engineering. The scope includes datacenter, network, security, storage, and compute design, plus platform blueprints, operating concepts, scaling and capacity planning. You will also support PreSales with architecture design and estimates and participate in an on-call rotation.

Role description & Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve multi-tenant platforms (OpenStack/VMware)
• Design datacenter, network, and security architecture (backbone, firewalls, segmentation)
• Design and integrate network, security, storage, and compute components
• Create platform blueprints, operating concepts, and scaling models
• Perform sizing and capacity planning for compute, storage, and network resources
• Design new cloud services and influence the service portfolio
• Technically evaluate new technologies and assess them for platform adoption
• Support PreSales with architecture design, capacity planning, and effort estimation (~10–15% of time)
• Create and maintain architecture documentation, standards, and guidelines
• Serve as a technical sparring partner for engineers, consultants, and team leads
• Participate in on-call rotation

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification
• Several years designing and operating complex cloud and datacenter infrastructure, including at least 3 years designing multi-tenant platforms
• Excellent expertise in OpenStack and/or VMware (vSphere, NSX, vSAN, vCloud Director)
• Deep knowledge of datacenter network architecture, enterprise storage, and security concepts
• Experience designing tenant-capable platforms with clean isolation
• Proven hands-on automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, APIs)
• Ability to communicate, decide, and defend complex architectures
• Experience collaborating with PreSales and customers at a technical level
• Willingness to join on-call rotation
• Willingness to support on-site customer meetings / PreSales 2–4 days per month with advance planning
• Very good German and English skills
• Relevant certifications are a plus
