Description

The Global Design Leader (GDL) leads extended-scope plant controls engineering projects from kickoff through hardware/software design, commissioning, and commercial plant operation. This role owns the project controls strategy and leads design and implementation across gas turbine, HRSG/steam turbine, and BOP controls systems, while driving architecture and verification/validation/commissioning requirements. The GDL also promotes a culture of technical depth, on-time quality execution, and customer-focused delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Compile project-level controls strategy and document requirements
  • Lead design and implementation of controls systems for GT, Bottoming Cycle (HRSG & ST), and BOP
  • Make independent project-level decisions; own high-risk complex projects from ITO-COD
  • Support ITO and proposal efforts
  • Work and lead in an Agile software methodology
  • Define, manage, and drive Control System Requirements (including flow-down of internal/external customer requirements)
  • Lead architecture, top-level design, verification, validation, and commissioning requirements
  • Ensure system function, performance, interfaces, reliability, maintainability, and safety requirements are defined and managed
  • Support comprehensive test plans for system verification/validation and Software Acceptance Tests (SwATs), including pre-operation, startup, and commissioning
  • Partner with Project Managers on baseline master schedule and cost roll-ups
  • Lead customer discussions/reviews to improve controls solutions and customer experience
  • Drive consistent controls solutions across GT/ST/HRSG/BOP and Electrical domains
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external customers; communicate clearly; be accountable for controls cost and schedule targets

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering (accredited college/university)
  • 10+ years of work experience in the combined cycle power plant industry
  • U.S. work authorization eligibility
  • Hybrid work availability in designated U.S. hubs (2 days on / 3 days off)
  • Ability for up to 15% travel for U.S. candidates
