Description

As a Sr. Data Scientist, you will help build data infrastructure, platforms, and analytics that support engineering teams across the network. The role works on biologics drug-substance modeling and digitizing tech-transfer workflows, enabling modeling tools for early insights and phase-appropriate decisions. You will lead solutions across modeling, data pipelines, and visualizations, and define and track performance improvements.

Responsibilities

• Leverage tech-transfer and process-modeling domain knowledge to implement digital technologies
• Act as digital product owner for tech-transfer digital applications, initially expanding digital process-modeling for the drug substance (DS) network
• Drive change management to integrate tech transfer digital applications into product teams
• Develop data products enabling FAIR data for tech transfer/NPI
• Enable AI agentic workflows for DST modeling assets
• Collaborate with digital product teams to build and integrate modeling assets into business processes for DST
• Partner cross-functionally to identify process design improvement opportunities with engineers
• Make business recommendations using cost-benefit, forecasting, and scenario analysis; present findings to stakeholders
• Contribute to the data science strategy with recommendations on process monitoring, data engineering, analytic platforms, and analysis plans

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Doctorate degree
• OR Master’s degree and 2 years of data science or engineering experience
• OR Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of data science or engineering experience
• OR Associate’s degree and 8 years of data science or engineering experience
• OR High school diploma or GED and 10 years of data science or engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications

• MS degree or doctorate in an engineering or scientific field with demonstrated capability applying data science
• Chemical Engineering modeling, drug-substance, tech-transfer experience
• 3+ years of experience in a biotechnology role (process engineer, scientist, or data scientist)
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies
• Experience with Databricks
• Python
• SQL
• AI tools (ChatGPT, Codex, GenieCode)
• React
• BI tools (Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI)
• Experience developing AI applications for process development workflows and integrating AI into business processes
• Experience with process modeling for cell-culture, harvest, and purification scale-up
• Demonstrated performance applying digital tools to solve analytical problems
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication
• Demonstrated leadership and self-direction; willingness to teach others and learn new techniques; ability to manage team members and deliverables
