Description

Apply the scientific method to extract knowledge and insights from structured, unstructured, and time-series (IoT) data. Build and validate predictive models using advanced statistics and machine learning, then communicate findings in business-friendly ways to inform decision making. Become a subject matter expert in AI/ML, feature engineering, data mining, and data manipulation/storage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop key predictive models to improve customer experience, operating performance, and safety
  • Design sampling, data collection, and data cleaning specifications; apply missing data treatments as needed
  • Use advanced analytics to support process improvement using modern analytics frameworks
  • Access and analyze data from company systems of record; support strategic business, marketing, and program planning
  • Access and enrich data warehouses; build, modify, monitor, and maintain high-performance computing systems
  • Provide expert data and analytics support to multiple business units
  • Translate business needs into data science projects; collaborate across teams to improve analytical capabilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related)
  • 4–7 years of relevant experience developing hypotheses, applying machine learning algorithms, validating results, and extracting actionable insights from multi-terabyte datasets
  • Strong knowledge in at least two of: machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistical modeling, data mining, information retrieval, data visualization
  • Proven experience developing and deploying predictive analytics projects using one or more: Python, R, Scala
  • Experience working in an open source environment and with Unix-based OS
  • Ability to translate analysis into coherent conclusions and actionable recommendations for business partners and executives
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
