Description

Own the 2–4 year vision and roadmap for the storage foundation powering AI clusters, spanning block, file, object, local NVMe, and archival tiers. Define storage architecture and hierarchy, set performance and durability targets (including storage cost per usable TB and capacity efficiency), and lead long-term vendor and technology strategy. Partner with infrastructure engineering and architecture to translate future workload, fleet, and customer requirements into infrastructure requirements and foundational product investments.

Responsibilities

  • Define the long-term storage vision and roadmap (2–4 years)
  • Own the long-term storage architecture and hierarchy
  • Own long-term vendor management strategy for the storage stack
  • Set platform performance and durability targets and key efficiency metrics
  • Own the future architecture required to support larger AI clusters and fleet scale
  • Identify structural limitations and prioritize long-term investments
  • Partner with engineering on major technical tradeoffs and define product requirements and business rationale
  • Scout emerging storage technologies and vendors; represent storage foundations in leadership reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • 8+ years of technical product management experience or product-minded infrastructure engineering experience
  • Track record owning architecture-level outcomes at Principal or equivalent scope (focused on cloud storage or related infrastructure)
  • Storage subject matter expertise with credibility to operate as a peer to senior infrastructure engineers and architects
  • Strong technical understanding of cloud storage architectures: block, file, and object at hyperscale
  • Experience managing long-term vendor strategy and evaluating in-house engineering investments for storage hardware and software
  • Infrastructure economics knowledge at scale (cost per usable TB and capacity efficiency)
  • Analytical mindset for data-informed multi-year decisions
  • Exceptional communication skills to translate technical tradeoffs for engineering and executive leadership
