Description

Lead the university’s digital future as a full-time CIO executive board member, driving transformation toward a connected, data- and service-oriented organization. Develop and implement the comprehensive IT and digital strategy, with special emphasis on future AI use cases. Strategically plan and steer IT processes for administration, teaching, studies, and research, while leading the university’s information and communications center.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the university-wide, end-to-end IT and digital strategy, particularly for future AI applications

  • Plan and govern IT processes across administration, teaching, studies, and research

  • Lead the Information and Communications Center of the university (IZUS), including the Technical Information and Communication Services (TIK) and the University Library (UB)

  • Collaborate closely with the Stuttgart High Performance Computing Center (HLRS) and leverage shared potential in high-performance computing, data infrastructures, and digital research services

  • Chair committees within the business unit and work in trusted collaboration with university status groups

Requirements

  • Completed scientific university degree

  • Multiple years of professional and leadership experience in IT, digitalization, or information management (preferably with leadership experience in higher education)

  • Demonstrated experience building and implementing IT/digitalization/transformation strategies in complex organizations

  • Experience implementing Artificial Intelligence in workflows

  • Experience managing complex change initiatives and coordinating with diverse stakeholders

  • Strong strategic leadership, clear management skills, and affinity for challenges of a modern science organization

  • Integrative, respectful, team-oriented leadership style

  • Excellent German and English proficiency
