Description

You will work on the design, implementation, and documentation of complex embedded software for microcontrollers, whether bare metal or running with an OS. The position includes requirements analysis, contributing to system conception, and creating software architectures and APIs with accompanying documentation. You will also review hardware designs and contribute to test and formal acceptance concepts, while optimizing existing codebases for performance.

Responsibilities

  • Independently handle design, implementation, and documentation of complex embedded software on microcontrollers (bare metal and with OS)
  • Perform requirements analysis and support system conception
  • Create software architectures, design APIs, and document them
  • Support hardware development by reviewing hardware designs and schematics
  • Create test and formal acceptance test concepts, including required documentation
  • Contribute to effort estimates and concepts for acquisition projects
  • Analyze and optimize existing codebases (e.g., identify bottlenecks and improve system performance)

Requirements

  • Completed degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field
  • Several years of professional experience in embedded development
  • Deep knowledge of hardware-near software development in C/C++ and Assembly
  • Solid electrical engineering knowledge with understanding of analog and digital circuit parts
  • Confident use of collaboration platforms, version control, and development environments
  • Experience with one or more of: functional safety and IT security requirement-driven systems, application development in C++/C#/Python, Linux platform integration, FPGA development (preferred)
  • Willingness to bring in new technologies and best practices and further develop within the team
  • Willingness for occasional business travel
  • Very good German and good English
  • Independent, systematic working approach with quality awareness, creativity, and teamwork
