Description

Lead and scale the Verifications engineering team responsible for employment and education verifications, drug and health screenings, reference checks, and right-to-work workflows. Own reliability and quality across fulfillment integrations, partnering with Product and Compliance to translate customer and regulatory requirements into engineering priorities. Drive technical strategy for scaling an integration-heavy system—improving accuracy and turnaround time while reducing manual touchpoints.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the Verifications engineering team (technical direction, performance, hiring pipeline)

  • Own reliability and quality across fulfillment integrations; reduce friction and minimize impact during issues

  • Partner with Product to plan and execute roadmaps across employment, education, drug and health, and compliance products

  • Drive architecture and scaling strategy to reduce manual exceptions and build an automated verification experience

  • Lead adoption of AI-assisted development practices while maintaining quality and accuracy standards

  • Represent Verifications in cross-functional planning on capacity, tradeoffs, and roadmap sequencing

Requirements

  • 4+ years as an engineering manager with a record of building high-performing teams

  • 8+ years as a software engineer with strong service architecture, distributed systems, and system design

  • Experience managing complex third-party integration environments and owning reliability across systems

  • Track record improving operational metrics in high-stakes production environments

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development and agentic coding tools; ability to reason about velocity vs quality

  • Experience with regulated products where accuracy and legal compliance are non-negotiable

  • Strong incident management skills and stakeholder communication

  • Ability to prioritize quickly with a framework balancing short-term reliability vs long-term investment

  • Strong communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Compensation (Base Salary Range)

  • San Francisco, CA: $233,000 — $274,000 USD

  • Denver, CO: $197,000 — $232,000 USD

Work Location Expectations

Hub locations: Denver, CO; San Francisco, CA; Nashville, TN; Santiago, Chile. In-office expectation is 3+ days per week; a relocation stipend may be available.
