Description

Engineering Leader responsible for implementing capacity and capability management, driving process improvements, and leading a high-performing engineering team for water systems testing projects. You will coordinate with cross-functional leads and customers to align project scope and technical needs, provide engineering judgment to resolve issues, and ensure quality and policy compliance. The role supports sales through customer relationship management and proactive feedback-driven improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Implement capacity and capability management under guidance of the Engineering Manager
  • Engage cross-functional leads and customers to understand project scope and technical needs; assign resources effectively
  • Drive process improvements to achieve financial results
  • Manage performance and development of team members; support team and self accountability for results
  • Operate effectively in the UL matrix to drive culture change, transformation efforts, and engagement
  • Coach and develop employees (training, career counseling, feedback, guidance)
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and requirements
  • Anticipate customer needs; gather, share, and respond to customer feedback
  • Provide technical guidance and engineering judgment to complete projects and resolve issues (e.g., complaints, unusual requests)
  • Ensure quality and adherence to policies and standards requirements
  • Lead and/or participate in discussions to support business initiatives
  • Delegate project handlers to establish appropriate test programs; guide them on compliance, scope/spec changes, and customer notifications
  • Explain company policies/procedures/requirements; negotiate completion dates and sample requirements
  • Support and review workflow and demand as needed; may handle some projects
  • Support sales by building relationships and understanding the pipeline, collecting feedback on how UL can improve
  • Exemplify and communicate the company’s vision and mission; lead and embrace change
  • Collaborate across functions and globally; mentor others to build networks
  • Read and follow Code of Conduct and physical/digital security practices

Requirements

  • University degree (equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree) in Engineering or Business
  • 5+ years of experience working in an analytical laboratory
  • Prior leadership experience (highly preferred)
  • Experience with NSF 60, 61 and NSF 372 Standards
  • Experience operating and maintaining Agilent GCMS and ICPMS systems
  • Experience with GCMS data validation for BNA method 625 and VOC method 524
  • Basic understanding of Scheme ownership and SOP creation and maintenance
  • Ability to manage employee performance using goals/expectations and respond to employee relations issues
  • Ability to analyze and interpret analyses, data, process documents and plans
  • Proficiency in the local language and basic English
