Senior Software Engineer, Storage Platform

Senior

172,000 - 282,000 USD/yr

Seattle, WA

Quick Facts

  • Role: Senior Software Engineer (individual contributor)
  • Team focus: Storage as a Service (STaaS) distributed storage platform

Description

The Storage as a Service team builds an internal storage platform that lets product teams provision durable storage across cloud providers without managing per-provider implementation details. You will design and implement scalable, available, secure, and reliable distributed storage services, APIs, abstractions, and operational tooling—from control-plane provisioning to data-plane integrations and cross-cloud migrations.

Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve the STaaS control plane (logical resource provisioning, lifecycle management, policy enforcement, cross-cloud consistency)
  • Develop and maintain Terraform providers, service blueprints, and Infrastructure-as-Code integrations for declaring logical storage dependencies
  • Create data-plane abstractions using standard protocols, client libraries, sidecars, adapters, and gateway services
  • Work across storage verticals: PostgreSQL, Redis, Key/Value, Blob, and Universal Bus with secure and operationally consistent integrations
  • Design storage solutions (databases, object stores, queues/streams) including replication, backup/restore, routing, governance, and encryption in transit/at rest
  • Design multi-tenancy capabilities: account-aware storage, per-account encryption keys, transfers, quota management, and safe access boundaries
  • Mentor and coach engineers; conduct design and code reviews; lead cross-team initiatives to raise the technical bar and reliability

Requirements

  • 8+ years hands-on software development in an object-oriented programming language such as C#, C++, or Java
  • 5+ years working with cloud deployment and configuration tools using scripting and platforms like Terraform
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable storage systems, distributed systems, APIs, and platform services
  • Experience with cloud storage technologies such as managed PostgreSQL, Redis or Valkey, NoSQL or key/value databases, object storage, or messaging systems
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (provider/module/blueprint/provisioning workflow development)
  • Experience designing abstractions that hide infrastructure implementation details while preserving reliability, security, and operational visibility

Benefits

  • Paid Time Off and paid company holidays (region-based)
  • Paid Parental Leave (up to six months)
  • Full health benefits plans (options including 100% employer paid from day one)
  • Retirement plans with potential employer contributions
  • Learning and Development (coaching, online courses, education reimbursements)
  • Compassionate Care Leave
  • Bonus eligibility for non-sales roles; stock eligibility via RSUs
