Description

Develop, maintain, and optimize mission-critical Java applications and services for consumer lending end-to-end—from design and development to productive operations. Collaborate with Product Owners, architects, and international engineering teams to shape architecture and technology choices while ensuring scalable, secure, maintainable, resilient, and future-ready solutions. Drive software quality with automated tests, CI/CD, monitoring, and best practices, and take responsibility for security, stability, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Build, operate, and improve Java applications and services for consumer lending.

  • Deliver new features end-to-end (design, development, and productive operation).

  • Partner across functional boundaries to choose the best technical path.

  • Participate in architecture decisions and strategic discussions on technology and long-term platform direction.

  • Introduce and promote automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and best practices.

  • Ensure responsibility for security, stability, and regulatory compliance.

  • Coach teammates and share expertise through technical collaboration.

Requirements

  • Completed degree in (Business) Computer Science or equivalent qualification.

  • 10+ years of Java software development experience.

  • Very good knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and software architecture.

  • Practical experience with CI/CD, DevOps, testing, monitoring, and observability.

  • Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, event-driven architectures, or Kafka (advantageous).

  • Strong quality focus, ownership mindset, and teamwork.

  • Ideally experience in regulated environments (banking/finance/insurance).

  • Ability to think beyond current scope and develop sustainable solutions.

  • Fluent German and English (verbal and written).
