Description

Assist the Bakery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit. Responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Bakery team. Execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ordering and inventory controls; supervise the Bakery team.
• Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service and monitor the quality of Bakery product.
• Execute rotation of merchandise and build displays.
• Monitor incoming cases for damaged items.
• Unload and sort store deliveries; operate and maintain deli equipment.
• Ensure execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines/regulations and validate that other Bakery team members follow these procedures.
• Perform general housekeeping; clean and sanitize the work area (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.).

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age; minimum 2 years retail grocery experience and 2 years supervisory experience.
• Dependable and able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Outgoing, friendly behavior with a positive attitude; ability to interact with customers.
• Good communication skills; ability to give and take direction in a team environment.
• Ability to answer phones and take special orders.
• Ability to clean and sanitize work areas in the department.
• Ability to operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks; knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products.
• Physical requirements: stand up to 3 hours continuously (total up to 8 hours per shift); transfer trays up to 5 lbs. vertically (7” to 64”) up to 10 hours; transfer items up to 40 lbs. vertically/horizontally (5” to 36”) for up to 10 hours across distances up to 36 feet without mechanical assistance.
• Adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations; achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
