Description

As a Staff Pharmacist, you deliver care at the forefront by modeling values and providing genuine, authentic patient care. You support the Pharmacy Manager with management, oversight, and operation of all aspects of your pharmacy, including proxy coverage during bench shifts and taking over day-to-day duties when you are the only/primary pharmacist-on-duty.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
  • Oversee the pharmacy during bench shifts as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy without overlap; coach team members, follow up, and provide performance feedback
  • Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and using safety guardrails at every workstation
  • Provide positive patient experiences through empathy, coaching the team, collaborating with the patient’s total healthcare team, and proactively resolving insurance and/or medication issues
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations; engage and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
  • Manage pharmacy inventory by following and coaching inventory best practices, with special focus on protecting cold chain products
  • Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalate issues/concerns for timely resolution when needed
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; support the Pharmacy Manager by writing the pharmacy schedule as directed
  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through required trainings and CMEs; seek opportunities to expand knowledge
  • Support access to care and improve outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible; empower the team to provide holistic care
  • Comply with federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; follow CVS Health policies and procedures, including controlled substance dispensing and recordkeeping to protect privacy and security

Requirements

  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
