Description

This position is responsible for leading the Oil System Integration of Power Generation products, including engineering product development of micro gas turbine sub-systems from design concept through validation and ending with product commercialization. The role coordinates cross-functionally to ensure proper system integration and execution of the validation plan, using strong program management and interpersonal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead oil system development and integration: flow, thermal management, filtration, and system-level validation to meet performance, durability, and reliability targets
  • Drive system integration across engineering disciplines; act as liaison between engineering teams to achieve sub and full system targets
  • Support creation, facilitation, and management of sub-system target specifications
  • Create and maintain sub-system DFMEA, DVPR, and roll up DFMEA into full engine
  • Lead oil system validation and coordinate team efforts for full system validation
  • Coordinate necessary certifications for the system (UL/CE, Emissions, etc.)
  • Leverage resources across Product Development and other groups without direct reports
  • Lead PD/ME team members by influence through design, development, and validation of new technologies
  • Assist PD teams in creation of risk assessment, development, and validation plans aligned with Global Product Strategy
  • Create test specifications, part design inputs, and best-practices documentation to articulate engineering fundamentals throughout the organization
  • Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Understand and adhere to current quality and control policies

Requirements

  • BSME or equivalent required; MSME preferred
  • Deep demonstrated expertise in technical aspects of engine systems
  • Oil system development experience using physical testing and simulation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Broad background in engineering technical disciplines: vibration, heat transfer, stress, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and controls
  • Project management skills to create and execute test plans
  • Ability to use ProE (or equivalent CAD tools) to model components
  • Understanding of FEA tools to predict stress and heat transfer
  • Knowledge of high temperature material properties
  • Experience with pressure transducers, temperature transducers, flow meters, accelerometers, microphones, and other measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of high temperature instrumentation for measuring flow, pressure, temperature, imbalance, rotor motion, and vibration
