Senior Back-end Engineer (Node.js)

What will you do?

• Architect and implement backends and their interactions with various data stores and APIs, including third-party APIs.
• Work in an agile environment on projects that have business impact.
• Support reliable databases and APIs for real-time automated decision-making.
• Deploy software using industry-standard tooling such as Kubernetes clusters and Lambda functions.
• Investigate and resolve production issues by analyzing code, data, and system behavior; propose and implement timely fixes to minimize user impact.
• Apply strong security practices and continuously improve protection of user data against external threats and misuse.
• Implement robust automated test suites to ensure high quality and a low failure rate of delivered code.
• Work in a DevOps style, following Defense in Depth principles and securing containers.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Senior Engineers, and Architects to translate business processes, rules, and requirements into high-quality, tested production code.
• Take ownership of deliverables, with creative freedom to shape the project.

We might be a match if you…

• Have at least 5 years of hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Have practical knowledge of at least one relational database system, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
• Are proficient with microservices and system design patterns.
• Can contribute to software design and architecture discussions and decisions.
• Are an independent problem-solver.
• Can communicate ideas clearly with technical and non-technical teams.
• Demonstrate responsibility, accountability, and ownership in delivering high-quality work.
• Have experience implementing the test pyramid: unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Apply effective security practices.
• Are ready to learn and expand your skills as projects require.
• Use AI-assisted development as a core part of your workflow, such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools, and can judge where AI improves speed and quality versus where critical judgment is needed.
• Have a good command of written and spoken English.
• Are available in the afternoons; occasional evening meetings may be needed for collaboration across time zones.

What you'll be using after joining us

• Node.js, TypeScript, and Nest.js.
• Docker and container-based deployment technologies, such as Kubernetes and Fargate.
• Automated software testing at unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.
• Devin, an autonomous AI engineer used daily to parallelize and accelerate delivery.

You will get extra points for

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS deployment processes.
• Experience with profiling and performance optimization.
• Experience providing high-quality feedback during code review.
