Mid Back-end Engineer (Node.js)

About the role

Join back-end engineering teams building and owning long-term insurance technology solutions. Teams use a shared core stack of JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Nest.js, and AWS while working on different business challenges.

What will you do?

• Implement backends and integrations with data stores, internal APIs, and third-party APIs.
• Work in an agile environment on projects with business impact.
• Support reliable databases and APIs for real-time automated decision-making.
• Deploy software using industry-standard tooling, including Kubernetes clusters and Lambda functions.
• Investigate and resolve production issues through code, data, and system-behavior analysis; propose and implement timely fixes.
• Apply security practices and improve protection of user data.
• Implement robust automated test suites to ensure high quality and a low failure rate.
• Write and review technical design documents.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Senior Engineers, and Staff Engineers to translate business processes, rules, and requirements into production code with automated tests.

We might be a match if you…

• Have at least 3 years of hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Have good practical knowledge of at least one relational database system, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
• Can participate in software design and architecture discussions and decisions.
• Have experience implementing the test pyramid: module, integration, and system tests.
• Are a team player and clear communicator across technical and non-technical teams.
• Demonstrate responsibility, accountability, and ownership of high-quality work.
• Apply good security practices effectively.
• Are ready to learn and expand your skills as projects require.
• Have good written and spoken English.
• Are available to work across time zones; occasional evening meetings may be needed on average two days per week.

What you'll be using

• Node.js, TypeScript, and Nest.js.
• Docker and container-based deployment technologies, such as Kubernetes and Fargate.
• Automated software testing at module, integration, and system levels.
• AWS infrastructure.
• Grafana, Prometheus, and Coralogix for monitoring.
• AI tools: Devin, Devin Desktop, and Claude.

Extra points

• Experience with data analysis and BigQuery.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus.
• Production experience with real AI use cases.
