Senior Cloud Engineer

Senior • On-site

27,000 - 30,000 PLN/yr

Kraków, Poland

About the Role

The Cloud Team designs, builds, and operates the AWS cloud foundation—the networking fabric and infrastructure tooling that every product team depends on. The team manages cloud infrastructure at significant scale, supporting millions of customers, with reliability, security, and operational excellence as core priorities.

This role focuses on designing and building scalable systems and services, rather than solely applying Terraform configurations. As a Cloud Engineer, you will own key parts of the cloud and networking stack, deliver high-quality Go services, and build internal abstractions that reduce cognitive load across the engineering organization.

You Will

  • Lead architecture decisions on cloud topology, multi-account governance, cross-region connectivity, and platform abstractions used by engineering teams.
  • Own and evolve edge infrastructure, including CloudFront distributions, AWS Shield, WAF configurations, CDN failover strategies, and latency-optimized routing.
  • Build and maintain production Go services and CLI tooling that automate, observe, and extend the cloud platform at scale.
  • Design and operate the global partner and bank connectivity network, including VPNs (IPSec/IKEv2), Direct Connect, BGP routing to financial partners, and the multi-account, multi-region topology underlying payments infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with SRE, Security, and Platform teams to embed observability, compliance, and operational excellence into cloud paved pathways.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues across distributed cloud environments using deep TCP/IP and traffic-flow analysis knowledge.
  • Participate in a 5-person weekly on-call rotation, with occasional late syncs with Seattle from 4–6 PM CET.

You Have

  • 5+ years of cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure experience with significant hands-on AWS depth.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language; Go is strongly preferred.
  • Deep cloud-networking knowledge, including VPC design and subnetting, routing, Transit Gateway, DNS, and load balancing.
  • Edge infrastructure management experience, including CloudFront, AWS Shield, WAF, and CDN failover strategies.
  • Experience building and operating infrastructure as code; Terraform is preferred.
  • Understanding of cloud and infrastructure management concepts, including multi-account governance and organizational tooling.
  • Kubernetes/EKS familiarity is a plus.

Benefits

  • Equity in the company through RSUs.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
  • 26 days of paid holiday plus additional company days off.
  • Royalties (KUP).
  • Hybrid working model, with an office in Kraków City Centre.
  • Commute allowance.
  • Health and dental coverage through LUX MED VIP for employees and family.
  • Life insurance and travel insurance.
  • Pluxee Lunch Card/Multisport Card.
  • Education budget.
  • Mental health program.
  • Family planning program.
  • Employee Pension Plan (PPK).

Compensation Details

The starting base salary range is typically zł320,000–zł360,000 per annum. Equity is part of the total compensation plan. Increased tax-deductible costs (KUP) may apply to remuneration earned by qualifying employees involved in software creation and copyright transfer, in accordance with applicable Personal Income Tax Act provisions.

Work Model

Employees in this position work onsite Tuesday through Thursday each week under current hybrid-work expectations. Additional onsite attendance may be required based on business needs, and hybrid-work expectations may change over time.
