Senior Software Engineer - Flight Data Systems

Senior • On-site

228,000 - 312,000 PLN/yr

Kraków, Poland

We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build Flight Data Systems—the real-time backbone that ingests, normalizes, and serves flight status, schedules, and disruption signals from a wide range of external sources. This data powers services supporting millions of travellers around the world.

This is a hands-on senior role with strong ownership. You’ll work primarily in Go, designing high-throughput, fault-tolerant services and making technical decisions for the domain.

This is a hybrid job opportunity in Kraków, Warsaw, or Gdańsk.

Salary

  • Full-time employee: 18,000–23,000 PLN gross/month
  • Contractor for specific projects: 19,000–26,000 PLN net + VAT/month on a B2B contract

What you can expect

  • Ownership of the Flight Data core domain, where architectural decisions directly impact the travel experience for millions of users and platform reliability
  • A culture promoting good engineering practices, high-quality code, and continuous improvement
  • Daily production deployments for fast impact and iterative development
  • Access to a modern technology stack and varied functional areas:
    • Backend: Go
    • Databases: PostgreSQL, Snowflake
    • Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
    • Monitoring: ELK/Grafana, Sentry, GitHub Actions CI/CD
    • Testing: Bruno (API), Playwright (E2E), k6 (performance)

What you’ll do

  • Design, build, and scale Go services that ingest flight data from heterogeneous external providers, reconcile conflicting signals, and serve a reliable, normalized view to the platform
  • Own the performance, correctness, and uptime of Flight Data Systems
  • Lead modernization and optimization initiatives for critical platform components and influence architectural decisions across services and teams
  • Ship production-ready code daily with strong testing discipline
  • Improve developer velocity through shared tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
  • Mentor peers and raise engineering standards through code reviews, design discussions, testing discipline, and documentation
  • Partner with product owners and stakeholders to frame problems early, identify risks, and turn ambiguous data requirements into robust, maintainable systems

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with significant depth in Go building production backend services
  • Proven experience designing and operating high-throughput, data-intensive, or event-driven systems, including pipelines, streaming/ingestion, queues, and real-time APIs
  • Strong grasp of concurrency, reliability, and performance trade-offs
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and data modeling for evolving real-world data
  • Ability to work across the full SDLC, from problem framing through deployment and production monitoring
  • Experience in cloud-based environments, especially AWS, and with containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Ownership mindset and proactive problem-solving
  • Clear communication, constructive feedback, and focus on outcomes
  • Strong spoken and written English

Bonus points

  • Experience integrating third-party data feeds, including rate limits, schema drift, and unreliable upstreams
  • Familiarity with the aviation or travel domain
  • Experience with observability and SLO-driven operations for critical services

Benefits

  • Daily deployments that enable work to reach production quickly
  • High-trust, autonomous working culture
  • Dedicated learning days, personal development plans, internal workshops, mentorship, and language classes
  • Private healthcare, wellness budget, travel stipend, gym or transport subsidy, and free services
