Staff Software Engineer, AI Retrieval

The AI Retrieval team powers intelligence behind AI features by finding relevant work graph content and delivering it to LLM context windows. The team also owns the traditional search experience.

As a Staff Software Engineer on the AI Retrieval team, you’ll build systems that make AI smart and responsive. You’ll tackle challenging search and retrieval problems, improving system speed, cost-efficiency, and quality while expanding capabilities to new data sources.

This role follows an office-centric hybrid schedule. Standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most employees may work from home on Wednesdays; Friday work-from-home availability depends on the type of work.

A Contract of Employment (UoP) is offered for employees in Poland.

What you’ll achieve

• Reduce the latency and cost of the retrieval system, making AI features faster and more efficient.
• Improve the quality and relevance of search results.
• Expand the retrieval system to query new objects and third-party data sources.
• Build and optimize search infrastructure using OpenSearch/ElasticSearch.
• Contribute to ML-powered features, including embeddings-based retrieval and semantic search.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners while building strong peer relationships.

About you

• 6+ years of experience writing code in a production environment.
• Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with willingness to learn and use them to improve productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
• Hands-on search-engineering experience, including OpenSearch or ElasticSearch.
• Experience with embeddings and machine-learning approaches to search and retrieval.
• Experience in an Applied AI role is a plus.

The estimated base salary range is 40,750–46,333 PLN gross per month, subject to taxes and necessary deductions. Actual base salary varies based on market factors and qualifications assessed during the interview process; the range is a guideline and may be modified.

In addition to base salary, the compensation package may include additional components such as equity and sales incentive pay for most sales roles, as well as benefits.
