Senior Software Engineer, Platform Reliability

Senior • On-site

372,000 - 432,000 PLN/yr

Warsaw, Poland

We’re looking for a Senior Platform Reliability Engineer who brings strong software engineering skills and a deep understanding of system behavior under load and stress. This role is a good fit for someone who wants to own reliability as a first-class concern—building foundational systems that protect the platform, not just responding when things go wrong.

You’ll build core platform systems such as load shedding, rate limiting, circuit breakers, and traffic controls that protect the platform under real-world load. This is deep, cross-cutting work that shapes the stability and performance of the entire infrastructure, and you’ll partner closely with other platform teams to make reliability built in rather than bolted on.

Our tech stack includes AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), CloudFront, Istio, Cilium, MySQL (RDS), OpenSearch, DynamoDB, Redis, Terraform, Datadog, TypeScript, Scala, Go, and Python.

Why this role?

  • Reliability as a first-class feature: Build systems that make the platform resilient by design rather than patching issues after the fact.
  • Foundational work: Own load shedding, traffic management, ingress, and egress—the building blocks that protect everything else.
  • Strong collaboration, reasonable hours: Work closely with infrastructure teams in Warsaw and Reykjavik.
  • Room to grow: Help shape Platform Reliability Engineering through project leadership, mentorship, and technical direction.

Success in this role means shipping systems that other teams rely on by default because they make the platform safer, not because they are mandatory.

We’re especially interested in people who think like backend engineers but obsess over failure modes, capacity planning, and building systems that degrade gracefully under pressure.

This role follows an office-centric hybrid schedule. Standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Working from home is generally available on Wednesdays; Friday arrangements depend on the type of work.

What you’ll achieve

  • Design and build core platform systems—load shedding, circuit breakers, and rate limiting—that protect the platform at scale.
  • Own critical platform concerns such as ingress and egress, shaping how traffic flows through systems.
  • Define stable interfaces and libraries that other platform teams build on.
  • Lead end-to-end projects, from scoping and design through rollout, across multiple platform teams.
  • Partner with infrastructure teams to embed reliability into architecture as a core design constraint.
  • Debug hard problems across the stack and prevent meaningful failures from recurring.
  • Share knowledge through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship.

About you

  • Strong software engineering background, including writing production code and designing systems. The team uses Go, Python, Scala, and TypeScript, but values engineering fundamentals over specific language experience.
  • 7+ years of experience building and operating backend systems at scale.
  • Familiarity with distributed-systems patterns, including backpressure, graceful degradation, and capacity planning.
  • Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Terraform, and monitoring tooling such as Datadog.
  • Experience defining and working within explicit reliability and performance targets for production systems.
  • Clear communicator and strong collaborator, comfortable navigating trade-offs with platform and infrastructure teams.
  • Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with willingness to use them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.

Important: This is a software engineering role. A background primarily in scripting, dashboards, or operational playbooks is unlikely to be a fit.

What we offer

  • Generous, transparent, and fair compensation system, including base salary and Restricted Stock Units.
  • Contract of Employment with 50% tax-deductible costs for authors’ rights usage for engineers.
  • Health insurance with dental and travel coverage.
  • Lunch catering on office days.
  • Career growth budget.
  • Home office setup budget.
  • Gym/Fitness card.
  • Fertility healthcare and family-forming support.
  • Mental health support.
  • Group life insurance.
  • Holiday allowance.
  • MacBooks with necessary accessories.

The estimated base salary range is 31,000–36,000 PLN gross monthly on a Contract of Employment. Actual base salary varies based on factors and qualifications assessed during the interview process. Total compensation consists of base salary and equity (RSUs).
