Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Cardiologist, you will join an established cardiovascular team dedicated to providing heart and vascular care throughout central Nebraska. Whether your interests are in General Cardiology or Interventional Cardiology, you will have the opportunity to build a practice supported by a referral network, collaborative colleagues, and a growing regional healthcare system.

You will provide comprehensive cardiovascular care in inpatient and outpatient settings, collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists, perform diagnostic and interventional procedures based on your training, and help improve access to specialty cardiovascular services across the region.

To be successful in this role, you will be a board-certified or board-eligible Cardiologist with clinical expertise, a patient-centered approach to care, and a commitment to collaboration. You will demonstrate communication skills, procedural proficiency, and the ability to work in a collegial, team-oriented environment.

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient cardiology services to patients throughout central Nebraska
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad spectrum of cardiovascular conditions
  • Perform cardiovascular procedures and interventions consistent with your training and specialty focus
  • Participate in outreach clinics that expand access to cardiovascular care across the region
  • Provide rotational services at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island and a community hospital in Hastings, Nebraska
  • Collaborate with an established cardiovascular team consisting of three physicians and four advanced practice providers
  • Utilize in-clinic cardiovascular imaging services to support patient evaluation and treatment planning
  • Opportunity to participate in peripheral vascular services based on training and interest
  • Maintain a balanced practice supported by a referral network from primary care and specialty providers
  • Collaborate closely with hospitalists, intensivists, and multidisciplinary care teams to provide coordinated patient care
  • Utilize EPIC as the integrated electronic medical record in clinic and hospital settings
  • Academic affiliation with Creighton University School of Medicine
  • Contribute to a culture of clinical excellence, teamwork, and patient-centered cardiovascular care

Job Requirements

Required

  • American Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease
  • Completion of a Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program
  • Valid Nebraska medical license or eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Nebraska
  • Nebraska DEA registration or eligibility to obtain

Preferred

  • American Board Certified or Board Eligible in Interventional Cardiology
  • Completion of an accredited Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program
  • Advanced Imaging training

Where You'll Work

CHI Health St. Francis is a 150-bed, Level III Trauma Center and regional referral hub serving Central Nebraska. The hospital offers a 16-bed open ICU with after-hours eICU support, a hospitalist and intensivist program, and engaged subspecialists to support collaborative perioperative care.

The facility has Magnet with Distinction-recognized nursing, a newly renovated Emergency Department, an OR expansion completed in 2021, and an Outpatient Family Health Center clinic opened in 2026.
