Position Summary
- Provides day-to-day administration and management of department staffing and output.
- Responsible for short-term (1–3 years) and mid-term (3–5 years) planning and target setting.
- Develops departmental goals and objectives that align with and support the division and organization.
- Leads, aligns, and monitors a high level of internal and external departmental activity under varied conditions and constraints.
- Comprehends, issues, and executes complex instructions and responds effectively to achieve desired results.
- Applies technical, strategic, administrative, and performance problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
- Takes ownership of output and results for managed associates and the business unit.
- Sets and manages departmental expense and capital budgets.
- Maintains departmental policies.
- Develops and coaches team members to support personal and organizational growth.
- Manages multiple engineers and projects concurrently while achieving optimal results.
- Facilitates and attends meetings and prepares reports as necessary.
- Leads and supports divisional and campus-wide projects.
- Communicates effectively, verbally and in writing, with all organizational levels, customers, and suppliers.
- Maintains good attendance, fulfills appropriate team roles, and responds appropriately to unexpected or ongoing workplace situations.
- May occasionally require domestic or international travel, overtime, and weekend or holiday work.
- Supports manufacturing operations technically and strategically through collaboration with Production, Maintenance, PE, TIE, and other support groups.
Staff Mentoring and Development
- Creates specifications and process designs for new equipment.
- Sources equipment, secures funding, orders, installs, and confirms equipment for current and new products.
- Conducts feasibility studies, develops process-control specifications, prepares or modifies equipment and tools, evaluates implemented processes and capability, and confirms product quality.
- Develops processes for new products based on design specifications and engineering changes to identify and solve problems before mass production.
- Prepares and presents design and procurement review materials.
- Analyzes data from new-product trials and improvement plans.
- Builds effective relationships with peers, production associates and production CoC, engineering CoC, upper management, customers, and suppliers.
Required Qualifications
- A resume is required to be considered for this position.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial) or a related degree.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Knowledge of Production Engineering policies, procedures, and terms.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and electronic communication skills.
