Position Summary

The Specialist, Logistics, specializes in freight payment, claims and complaints, you will play a crucial role in maintaining customer satisfaction and operational excellence. You will be responsible for efficiently managing freight, claims, addressing customer complaints, and ensuring accurate and timely freight payment processing. Key responsibilities will include periodic reporting and timely, accurate generation of ad hoc reports as requested by the business. The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for tracking performance of KPI metrics versus targeted service levels, reporting on any gaps to plan, and highlighting opportunities for improvement. Your attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to collaborate with various teams will be essential to succeed in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Freight Claims Management

  • Initiate and process freight claims with carriers for damaged, lost, or delayed shipments.
  • Gather necessary documentation, including shipment details, receipts, and photographs, to support claims.
  • Consult with carriers, suppliers, and customers to track the progress of claims and ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records of all claims and their outcomes.

Complaint Response

  • Receive and assess customer complaints related to freight services.
  • Investigate the root causes of complaints and collaborate with internal departments to identify corrective actions.
  • Respond to customer complaints in a professional and timely manner, providing solutions and reassurance as needed.
  • Ensure that complaints are properly documented and tracked for future reference.

Freight Payment Processing

  • Verify freight bills and invoices for accuracy and adherence to contractual terms.
  • Coordinate with finance and accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of freight payments.
  • Address any discrepancies or issues with invoices and payments, resolving them in a proactive manner.
  • Maintain a well-organized record of payment transactions and related documentation.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including customer service, operations and procurement, to streamline processes and prevent future claims and complaints.
  • Communicate updates on claims, complaints, and payment processing to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provie regular reports and updates on claim trends, complaint resolution, and payment status.
  • Other logistics duties as needed by the business.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus
