Position Overview

The Account Manager is responsible for developing profitable growth within a designated territory. The role focuses on identifying and developing target customers based on a specialization platform, forecasting annual objectives for sales, margins, and volume growth, and building strong relationships at all management levels. The position requires independent work with minimal oversight and up to 75% travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive profitable revenue growth and new business development.
  • Achieve gross margin targets as a percentage of sales.
  • Utilize customer-centric selling tools and processes including scorecards, business reviews, EVE tools, prospecting, sales funnel development, cross-selling, and CRM management.
  • Establish, track, and close new business targets aligned with short- and long-term objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers and project facilitators.
  • Conduct prospecting and cold calling activities.
  • Develop, execute, and manage sales plans, sales budgets, and expense budgets.
  • Create account development plans and written Account Plans for strategic accounts.
  • Identify industry trends, applications, requirements, and opportunities.
  • Coordinate with regional sales teams and technical teams to deliver solutions.
  • Monitor competitive activity and implement pricing and market strategies.
  • Negotiate customer contracts and value packages to ensure acceptable returns.
  • Maintain accurate CRM data and sales statistics.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Plastics, Polymer Engineering, Business, Chemistry, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 5–7 years’ sales experience in distribution, manufacturing, or account management.
  • Ability to translate customer needs into solutions.
  • Technical aptitude and broad knowledge of materials and processing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
