Description

You will be the key architect for Master Data Governance across the organization, designing, implementing, and overseeing data governance standards, processes, and controls in a distributed environment (SAP S/4HANA, lab systems, and operational/domain systems such as TMS, TETA, and SAP Ariba). The role is strategic and coordination-oriented: you will build a matrix network of Data Owners and Data Stewards so that distributed teams consistently enforce governance standards and business rules, while maintaining high information security and sensitive data protection standards. You will work within a SAP Center of Excellence responsible for SAP S/4HANA architecture and development.

Responsibilities

• Create and evolve standards and policies for master and reference data governance

• Design processes for creation, change, archiving, and approval of master/reference data

• Build and coordinate the network of Data Owners and Data Stewards

• Ensure enterprise-wide standards for master data governance

• Ensure compliance with GDPR (RODO), IT security requirements, and SAP GRC

• Identify and mitigate risks related to data quality and data security

• Co-create data access rules and support audits

• Ensure data consistency across systems

• Define data quality rules, KPIs, and monitoring/validation mechanisms

• Oversee data migration, integration, and automation of related processes

• Ensure readiness of data for reporting, analytics, BI, and AI

• Build a data quality culture and educate the organization

• Monitor governance process quality and achievement of SLA/KPIs

• Oversee data structure and dictionary changes

• Resolve escalations and conflicts related to master data

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred: IT, Quantitative Methods, Management)

• 6–10 years of experience in Master Data/Data Governance/Data Architecture in complex organizations

• Documented experience implementing Data Governance strategy standards and building processes from scratch

• Experience with matrix management or coordinating distributed project/business teams; ability to enforce standards and build authority without formal reporting lines

• Practical knowledge of information security and personal data protection (GDPR/RODO) and strict handling of sensitive data (medical/pharma/finance experience is a strong asset)

• Very good knowledge of SAP S/4HANA (and/or SAP ECC) for financial, material, or sales data structures (SAP MDG not required; process/architecture approach is key)

• Experience working with GRC/Audit/Security functions to define IT roles and control mechanisms

• Communication and negotiation skills; ability to influence and build relationships with key stakeholders (board, business directors)

• English for business and technical communication (minimum B2/C1)
