Description

The Senior Software Engineer will design and scale the systems behind an AI-first platform that optimizes cloud data warehouses for cost control without harming query performance. The role focuses on building reliable high-volume data processing systems, using AI coding tools/agents with strong review standards, and working with product to ship customer-driven features. You will also create shared AI workflows and guardrails, evaluate new models/tools, and document architecture and tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Design reliable systems that process large volumes of customer warehouse data
• Use AI coding tools effectively (clear specs/context, run agents in parallel workstreams, critically review outputs)
• Build shared AI workflows, guardrails, and review standards
• Evaluate new tools and models and share the best options with the team
• Write architecture documentation explaining what is built, tradeoffs, and rationale
• Understand customer needs and decide what to build
• Mentor engineers and collaborate effectively while using AI coding tools

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time at an early-stage startup (Seed through Series B)
• Deep experience with AI coding agents, including examples of scaling agent use across a team
• Judgment to catch wrong, incomplete, or risky AI output, especially with customer data; ability to adapt as tools change
• Track record scaling systems as load, data, and customers grow
• Strong architectural skills with examples
• Ability to make sound tradeoffs between speed and reliability/data integrity/architecture
• Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript, plus strong SQL
• Experience with cloud platforms, containers, and automated deploy pipelines
• Clear, collaborative communication in writing
• Persistence and constructive attitude when things break or plans change
