Description

Provide outpatient psychiatric care within the hospital setting, including admitting patients, performing psychiatric exams and evaluations, ordering and conducting tests, diagnosing, running hospital rounds, and planning for discharge. Coordinate individualized care plans with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team, and participate in the call schedule.

Responsibilities

• Admit patients and conduct psychiatric evaluations
• Order and conduct diagnostic tests
• Diagnose and develop treatment and discharge plans
• Complete hospital rounds and participate in call schedule
• Coordinate comprehensive care plans with patient, family, and multidisciplinary team
• Prepare written prescription orders, including medications and controlled substances, compliant with DC and federal rules
• Coordinate family education with nursing, ancillary staff, and other resources
• Receive and triage outpatient referrals from Primary Care Center and/or other departments
• Provide expert psychiatric support to critical care medicine, internal medicine, primary care, and other specialists
• Maintain progress notes and follow all HIMS policies for medical record maintenance and signing

Requirements

• MD degree (or foreign equivalent)
• 48 months of an ABPM-recognized, ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program
• 12 months of an ABPN-recognized, ACGME-accredited Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship Program
• License to practice medicine in the District of Columbia
• American Board Certification in Psychiatry
• American Board Certification in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (or eligibility)

Benefits

• Competitive salary range: $148,221 to $305,000 per year
