PostHog is a product analytics and observability company that serves as a “context layer” for product teams, ingesting and storing analytics, error tracking, replays, and business data so customers and their agents can query and act on it. Founded by alumni of Y Combinator’s W20 cohort, it has shipped a broad suite of more than a dozen offerings, including analytics/replay/AI observability tools, an MCP interface for agents, and a data warehouse enabling SQL-based insights across product and customer data. The company is product-led with very strong product-market fit, driven largely by word of mouth and installed by 500K+ organizations. It values transparency (open roadmaps, pay practices, and internal decision-making context), autonomy (team members choose what to work on for maximum customer impact), fast shipping through small autonomous teams in a natively remote, async-first culture, and a playful “weirdness” that encourages unconventional, customer-data-focused innovation. PostHog is well-funded (raised $180M+) and operates with a focus on efficient, fast growth over merely maintaining operations.
