Description

Lead the design and evolution of backend architecture across multiple teams, ensuring clear domain boundaries, reliable service communication, and scalable system design. Establish architectural principles for distributed, event-driven systems (state management, data consistency, and API integration), drive technical discussions, and document decisions through ADRs/RFCs. Improve engineering practices and AI-powered engineering workflows for agentic development tools, adoption monitoring, performance measurement, and continuous optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve backend architecture across multiple teams

• Define principles for distributed systems and event-driven communication

• Lead technical discussions and document architecture decisions (ADRs, RFCs, proposals)

• Evaluate and recommend solutions for databases, cloud infrastructure, messaging systems, and financial data processing

• Develop and improve AI-powered engineering workflows and agentic development environments

• Identify opportunities to modernize solutions and introduce common technical standards

• Collaborate with engineering leaders and product stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals and platform strategy

• Mentor engineers through architectural reviews, technical mentoring, and design discussions

• Drive cross-team technical initiatives and support implementation of architectural improvements

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in technical leadership or architecture responsibilities across multiple teams

• 3+ years designing distributed systems in the payments or fintech sector

• Strong backend engineering expertise across different technology stacks

• In-depth understanding of distributed systems patterns: Event Sourcing, CQRS, Domain Events, Saga

• Experience designing state machines and managing lifecycles of financial entities

• Strong API architecture knowledge: REST APIs, asynchronous communication, event-driven integration contracts

• Ability to evaluate databases: relational, document, time-series, ledger-oriented solutions

• Experience assessing cloud architectures and services in AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure

• Practical experience designing or improving agentic engineering environments (instrumentation, adoption tracking, performance measurement, optimization)

• Understanding of LLM tool-use patterns, context management, and AI-assisted software development workflows

• Experience preparing clear technical documentation (ADRs, RFCs, system design documents)

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong leadership skills

• Very good English and Polish
