Description

Design and evolve backend architecture across multiple teams, ensuring clear domain boundaries, reliable service communication, and scalable system design. Establish distributed-systems principles (event-driven communication, state management, data consistency, and API integration), lead technical discussions, and document architectural decisions. Improve engineering practices and AI-powered engineering workflows, collaborating with engineering leaders and product stakeholders to align with business and platform strategy.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve backend architecture across multiple teams

• Define architectural principles for distributed, event-driven systems

• Lead architecture discussions and document decisions (ADRs, RFCs, design proposals)

• Evaluate technology options (databases, cloud, messaging, financial data processing) and recommend solutions

• Develop and improve AI-powered engineering workflows (agentic tools, adoption monitoring, performance measurement, continuous optimization)

• Modernize existing systems and introduce common technical standards across teams

• Collaborate with engineering leaders and product stakeholders

• Provide architectural review, technical mentoring, and knowledge sharing

• Drive cross-team technical initiatives and support implementation of architectural improvements

Requirements

• 8+ years professional software engineering experience

• 2+ years technical leadership or architecture-related responsibilities across multiple teams

• 3+ years designing distributed systems in payments or fintech

• Strong backend engineering expertise across different stacks

• In-depth knowledge of Event Sourcing, CQRS, Domain Events, and Saga

• Experience designing state machines and managing financial entity lifecycles

• Strong API architecture knowledge (REST, asynchronous communication, event-driven integration contracts)

• Ability to evaluate database technologies (relational, document, time-series, ledger-oriented)

• Experience assessing cloud architecture (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure)

• Practical experience with agentic engineering environments (instrumentation, adoption tracking, iterative optimization)

• Understanding of LLM tool-use patterns and context management for AI-assisted workflows

• Ability to prepare clear technical documentation (ADRs, RFCs, system design docs)

• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to interface effectively with others

• Strong leadership skills

• Very good English and Polish
