Description

Backend Software Engineer focused on high-throughput platform development. Design, build, and operate foundational platforms and shared services used by other engineering teams—covering request routing, traffic management, data fan-out, caching layers, asynchronous job execution, and durable event processing. Build systems that handle very high traffic volumes with predictable latency and minimal operational toil.

Responsibilities

• Build backend platform capabilities and shared services for high-traffic systems

• Deliver request routing, traffic management, data fan-out, caching, async job execution, and durable event processing

• Lead multi-quarter platform initiatives and raise the engineering bar across supported teams

• Prioritize internal developer experience as a first-class concern

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional backend or platform engineering experience

• Experience building and operating internal platforms or shared services consumed by multiple engineering teams

• Hands-on expertise designing distributed systems with focus on consistency, availability, latency, and failure modes

• Advanced proficiency in at least one: Java, Go, Scala, Rust, or modern C++

• Deep understanding of high-throughput messaging/streaming/event-driven architectures using Kafka, Pulsar, or NATS

• Working knowledge of data storage systems across relational, key-value, document, and search workloads

• Proven ability to lead multi-quarter platform initiatives across teams (stakeholders + technical decisions)

• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to author technical design documents and present trade-offs

• Demonstrated mentoring ability via code review, design review, and onboarding contributions
