Description

The Program Specialist provides high-level administrative and data support to ensure accurate creation, validation, and management of clinic profiles. The role supports service-level clinical data reporting as requested, performs accurate and timely data retrieval for clinic management, and provides technical advice and guidance. It also analyzes customer and program needs, develops communication materials, and may lead workshops and special projects to improve service.

Responsibilities

• Work with healthcare team members, point-of-service contacts, patient advocates, customer service groups, and patients/families to ensure services are obtained and short-term issues are resolved
• Conduct customer service rounds; identify systemic difficulties and correct them; prepare and complete required reports
• Study, analyze, and evaluate customer needs; devise and implement solutions based on feedback data
• Review feedback data, summarize information, identify trends, and propose solutions
• Develop information materials (fact sheets, brochures, booklets) for medical facility customers and staff
• Conduct workshops, seminars, and meetings to explain and/or improve customer service; evaluate impact of informational materials
• Plan and conduct special projects or studies to analyze administrative issues and provide recommendations
• Research and analyze administrative issues; apply standard analytical techniques to develop recommendations
• Perform related duties as required

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship
• Complete all required steps in the hiring process, including an online assessment
• If tentatively selected, be prepared to complete urinalysis screening prior to appointment
• Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
• Subject to background/security investigation
• Complete online onboarding and provide acceptable identification for pre-employment requirements
• REAL ID compliant driver’s licenses/state IDs required for employment identification starting May 7, 2025
• Participate in the seasonal influenza vaccination program for VA Health Care Personnel
• Serve a probationary period (1-year) or trial period (2-year) and meet public interest evaluation criteria
• Qualifications by closing date (11/13/2026): specialized experience (1 year equivalent to GS-7), or qualifying graduate education, or combination of education and experience
