Description

You will coordinate and own cross-functional fraud and abuse prevention workstreams within Trust & Safety. You will partner with T&S engineering and collaborate with Engineering, Product, Legal, and Finance to understand fraud trends and implement improved defenses. You’ll translate technical problems into business requirements, define metrics, and drive projects through to completion.

Responsibilities

• Connect T&S with Engineering, Product, Legal, Finance, and other teams to build, track, and drive fraud and abuse mitigation to completion.

• Convert abuse and fraud trends into proposed defense measures and drive stakeholder buy-in and delivery.

• Lead with ownership and a bias for action to keep GitLab secure.

• Turn abuse trends into prioritized, cost-quantified requirements and business cases for product teams.

• Leverage AI for early identification and triage of fraud and abuse risks across GitLab.

• Partner with Finance and Billing on fraud prevention controls, including payment fraud, chargebacks, and account verification.

• Define metrics for abuse/fraud exposure and report program status, costs, and outcomes to security and business leadership.

• Identify, triage, and prioritize safety and trust abuse campaigns and operational work; ensure high-impact incidents are escalated.

Requirements

• 5+ years in technical program management, security program management, or trust & safety, fraud, or risk operations, with hands-on experience in fraud/abuse for a SaaS, platform, marketplace, or payments company.

• Proven track record driving cross-functional fixes to completion without direct authority.

• Working knowledge of fraud and abuse patterns including account takeover, free-tier/trial abuse, payment fraud and card testing, bot signups, and spam/phishing.

• Technical fluency with web applications, APIs, identity/authentication, and billing/subscription systems to discuss implementation tradeoffs.

• Clear written communication appropriate for an all-remote, asynchronous environment.

• Sound judgment balancing fraud/abuse risk against friction for legitimate users and customers.

• Salary range (US residents): $139,200–$190,000 base; bonuses/equity/benefits not included in the range; incentive pay may apply for sales roles.
