Description

Own and deliver real-time fraud decisioning services and APIs that extend an existing fraud decisioning system into new markets. You’ll design repeatable tooling and platform capabilities for market-by-market setup, integrate region-specific fraud/risk vendors, and operationalize AI/ML signals for real-time decisions. You’ll also ensure production reliability through metrics, escalation, and on-call while mentoring and improving engineering quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead quarterly goals for the team; guide engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems

• Design and implement real-time fraud decisioning services and APIs in Python or Kotlin

• Build and evolve platform/tooling to launch fraud decisioning in new countries quickly and safely

• Integrate region-specific fraud and risk vendors; operationalize ML/AI signals

• Collaborate across Product, Compliance, Machine Learning, Analytics, and Fraud Strategy; communicate technical constraints and trade-offs

• Support operations and availability with metrics, monitoring, escalation, and on-call

• Set/improve code review and design standards; mentor teammates

Requirements

• 5+ years building backend systems at scale with Python or Kotlin

• Experience with distributed systems and infrastructure using AWS

• Hands-on with MySQL or PostgreSQL and Kubernetes

• Strong system design and track record delivering maintainable, extensible services

• AI-driven engineering fluency: direct/orchestrate AI tools and critically review generated code for correctness, quality, and security

• Proficiency in SQL and working in data-rich environments

• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and safe production deployments

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for distributed teams
