Description

The Family Practice Physician provides comprehensive pediatric and adult medical care in a clinic setting and has full and complete authority for preventive, diagnostic, treatment, and referral services. Responsibilities include assessing patients through examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing care plans and prognoses, prescribing treatments, and coordinating with other health professionals and specialists. The role also includes supervising team members and supporting education, credentialing, and quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures per guidelines and approved protocols
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
• Record findings and formulate patient plan and prognosis
• Discuss cases with other health professionals to prepare comprehensive care plans
• Prescribe or recommend medications and therapies (e.g., physical therapy, inhalation therapy)
• Refer patients to specialists and specialized resources as needed
• Participate as instructor/facilitator in in-house and community education/outreach
• Ensure credentialing and continuing education requirements for licensure are current
• Adhere to Patient-Centered Medical Home principles and guidelines
• Participate in Quality Improvement and Peer Review audits; meet quality outcome measures
• Complete and lock patient medical record documentation within established timeframes
