• Full-time Family/Internal Medicine physician position providing primary care
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (no call, no weekends)
• Average patient load: 16–22 patients

Description

Provide primary care services to patients at the center as scheduled, with in-patient and out-patient coverage as credentialed by an area hospital. Manage individual patient care activities, coordinate with leadership and clinical staff, and ensure quality, safety, and accurate medical records. Provide medical orders and referrals and coordinate hospitalization for center patients when needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage individual patient care activities at the center
• Confer with the Chief Medical Officer and CEO as needed
• Support and maintain clinical staff competence and quality
• Consult with provider staff on clinical issues; coordinate continuing education and in-service training
• Assure safety and adequate maintenance of center medical records
• Conduct or supervise an ongoing quality assurance program
• Provide primary care services under licensure and standards of care
• Provide in-patient and out-patient care as appropriate if credentialed
• Provide medical direction for healthcare activities
• Periodically review patient medical records for accuracy and completeness
• Provide medical orders and patient referrals as appropriate
• Refer and coordinate inpatient hospitalization for center patients at the patient’s chosen hospital and/or required facility per insurance contract guidelines
• Maintain credentials at the area hospital as appropriate and as required
• Cooperate with the Chief Medical Officer to arrange alternative back-up call; the physician must be available for call unless CEO-approved back-up support is available

Requirements

• Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily
• Licensed to practice medicine within the scope of Family/Internal Medicine
• Provide primary care services per licensure and standards of care
• Credentialed (as applicable) to provide in-patient and out-patient care at an area hospital
• Maintain hospital credentials as required
• Ability to coordinate referrals, hospitalization, and medical orders
• Ability to review and ensure medical record accuracy and completeness
• Availability for call unless approved back-up call coverage is arranged
