Description

Board Certified or Board Eligible physicians will meet, assess, and diagnose patients and provide healthcare services that meet state and national caregiving standards. The role includes prescribing appropriate medication and care regimens, ordering lab and radiology tests, interpreting results and medical records, and referring patients to specialists when appropriate. Physicians also counsel patients on lifestyle and diet changes and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary medical care within the standard of care for Nursing Home patients

• Order laboratory and radiology tests and refer patients to specialists when appropriate

• Analyze reports, test results, medical records, and examinations to diagnose conditions and propose treatment options

• Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens for documented medical conditions

• Discuss potential side effects with patients and ensure allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing

• Advise patients on lifestyle and diet changes to support recovery and help prevent future health issues

• Follow departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement goals, and safety/environmental/infection control standards

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with federal and state health information privacy laws

• Record complete, timely, and legible medical records

Requirements

• BC/BE in Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Palliative Care/Hospice, or Family Medicine

• MD or DO degree from an accredited United States medical school

• Successful completion of residency (or completed a US residency or 5-year pathway)

• Active New York State Medical Practitioner License

• Current DEA and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing

• Experience providing primary care and diagnostic services in a clinical setting

• Experience working in a team and collaborating with other healthcare professionals
