Description

Essen is seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Primary Care Physicians (MD/DO) to provide diagnostic and treatment services across multiple care settings, including office-based care, urgent care, house calls, and nursing home patients.

The physician will assess and diagnose patients, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications and treatment regimens, and provide lifestyle and diet guidance to improve health outcomes. The role requires close collaboration with other healthcare professionals and adherence to state and national care standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary medical care services to Nursing Home patients in line with the standard of care

• Order laboratory and radiology tests; refer patients to specialists when appropriate

• Analyze reports, test results, medical records, and examinations to diagnose conditions and propose treatment options

• Prescribe pharmaceuticals and other medication/treatment regimens for documented medical conditions

• Discuss potential side effects with patients and ensure allergy information is up to date before prescribing

• Provide advice on lifestyle and diet changes to improve health and treat current conditions

• Follow departmental policies, quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with federal and state health information privacy laws

• Record complete, timely, and legible medical records

Requirements

• BC/BE in Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Palliative Care/Hospice, or Family Medicine

• MD or DO from an accredited U.S. medical school

• Successful completion of residency (or completed U.S. residency or 5-year pathway)

• Active NY License / Current New York State medical practitioner license

• Current DEA and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing (or credentialing support)

• Experience providing primary care and diagnostic services in a clinical setting

• Experience collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals
