Description

The Nursing Home Medical Director will provide continuum quality routine patient care and rehabilitation across nursing homes. Responsibilities include examining, diagnosing, and treating patients; maintaining accurate clinical documentation; ordering and interpreting tests and diagnostic imaging; administering treatments and vaccines; and coordinating specialist input when needed.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat patients

• Ensure fulfillment of quality-of-care commitments

• Diagnose and treat a variety of conditions in general practice

• Use medical instruments and equipment for patient exams

• Collect, record, and maintain accurate patient information

• Document history (past medical, family, social), review of systems, examinations, medications, allergies, and assessment/plan

• Order or execute tests, analyses, and diagnostic imaging

• Analyze test and exam reports to diagnose conditions

• Administer or prescribe treatments

• Order lab and imaging tests to manage immediate treatment plans

• Vaccinate patients against communicable diseases

• Advise patients on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention

• Consult appropriate medical specialists and refer within the network as needed

Requirements

• Medical degree from an accredited college or university (MD/DO)

• New York State licensure

• Board eligible and/or certified

• Demonstrated clinical excellence

• Nursing home experience strongly preferred
