Description

Provide healthcare services under the supervision of a physician, supporting patient recovery through examinations, minor injury care, diagnostics, and treatment monitoring. You will examine patients, document histories, order and interpret tests, prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval, and counsel patients on progress and care. You will also respond to emergencies and coordinate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare services under supervision of a physician
• Examine patients and record medical histories
• Perform physicals and treat minor injuries (e.g., sutures, splints)
• Order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and diagnose medical conditions
• Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval
• Monitor responses to treatment and counsel patients
• Assess patient health needs and work to meet them
• Issue appropriate prescriptions and administer medicine
• Inform physicians about problems or discrepancies
• Acquire and review patient histories to identify abnormal conditions
• Monitor patient progress and keep records of treatments, surgeries, and other medical events
• Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures (e.g., blood pressure/temperature checks, injections)
• Provide therapeutic treatments (e.g., disinfecting wounds, stitching)
• Collaborate with team members across specializations
• Attend to emergencies

Requirements

• Master’s degree
• Active New York Physician Assistant license
• Current New York Controlled Substance and DEA registration
• Graduate of an approved PA program
• Post-graduate training in surgery OR at least one-year equivalent work experience
• Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• Experience in Emergency Medicine OR Family Practice/Acute Care
• DOT certification
• BLS certification
• ACLS preferred
• Spanish bilingual preferred
• Proven experience as a physician assistant or nurse
• Knowledge of EMR systems preferred
