Description

The Physician Assistant supports physicians by providing supervised patient care and helping facilitate recovery. You will perform patient examinations, maintain medical histories, manage minor injuries, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and assist with diagnoses and treatment plans. The position also includes counseling, monitoring responses to treatment, responding to emergencies, and keeping accurate clinical records.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare services under supervision of a physician
• Examine patients and record medical histories
• Perform physicals; treat minor injuries (e.g., sutures, splints)
• Order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and help diagnose conditions
• Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval; issue and administer medications
• Monitor patient responses to treatments and counsel patients
• Assess patient health needs and help meet them
• Inform physicians of problems or discrepancies
• Acquire and review patient histories to identify abnormal conditions
• Monitor patient progress and document treatments, surgeries, and medical events
• Prepare patients for examinations and run routine procedures (measure blood pressure/temperature, administer injections)
• Provide therapeutic treatments such as disinfecting wounds and stitching
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and attend to emergencies

Specialties (New hires)

• Accepting new grads for all specialties except Dermatology and Pain Management
• Dermatology, Cardiology, House Calls (with a driver), Neurology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Primary Care, Urgent Care, ENT, Orthopedics, Pain Management

Requirements

• Master’s Degree required
• Active New York Physician Assistant license
• Current New York Controlled Substance and DEA registration
• Graduate of an approved PA program plus post-graduate surgery training, or at least one-year equivalent work experience
• Current NCCPA certification
• Emergency Medicine / Family Practice / Acute Care background required
• DOT, BLS, ACLS preferred
• Bilingual Spanish a plus
• Proven work experience as a physician assistant or nurse
• EMR systems knowledge preferred

Benefits

• Salary: $130,000–$150,000
