Description

The Hematologist conducts physical exams, reviews patient medical history, and analyzes blood samples and diagnostic imaging to identify abnormalities in white and red blood cells. Responsibilities

• Test and diagnose patients

• Perform bone marrow aspirations to detect blood disorders

• Conduct physical examinations and analyze medical history

• Study lab tests, CAT scans, and MRIs for accurate diagnosis

• Analyze blood samples to identify white or red blood cell abnormalities

• Treat diseases such as anemia, hemophilia, and leukemia

• Prescribe medications or provide dietary advice

• Administer chemotherapy for lymphoma or leukemia

• Treat blood-clotting disorders

• Maintain detailed patient health records

• Analyze patient historical data to make informed care decisions

• Use referring physicians’ notes and recommendations

• Potentially perform surgical operations

• Consult with other medical professionals in difficult cases

Requirements

• Medical degree

• Internal medicine residency completed

• Two-year hematology fellowship completed

• Hematology license

• Outstanding interpersonal skills

• Exceptional written and verbal communication

• Analytical mindset and strong problem-solving ability

• Diligence and attention to detail

• Good organizational skills
