Description

Optometrists examine and correct patients’ vision, including diagnosing vision issues and testing for glaucoma and other eye conditions. The role includes conducting comprehensive eye exams with optometric equipment, diagnosing and treating ocular disease, and prescribing and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses. You will counsel patients on vision and optical concerns, recommend follow-up care, and provide outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

• Conduct eye exams using optometric equipment and interpret general diagnostic findings

• Diagnose and treat ocular disease

• Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids

• Recommend appropriate patient follow-up and care options

• Answer patient questions and provide advice on vision and optical issues

• Deliver outstanding customer service in all patient interactions

• Direct staff and assist in the development of the overall practice

Requirements

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program

• Active state optometry license

• Valid CPR certificate

• Two-plus years of optometrist experience (preferred)

• Applied understanding of general optometry principles and best practices for diagnosis and treatment of eye-related disorders

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to patients of diverse backgrounds

• Excellent customer service skills

• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality

• General computer proficiency

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and multitasking ability
