Description

Join a small, high-impact backend team building real-world backend systems from day one. You’ll work on 2+ projects at a time, often joining unfamiliar codebases and improving them, with occasional short assignments outside Java (Node.js or Python) when client work requires it. AI tools are expected to be part of your workflow, and you’ll gradually build awareness of DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend systems primarily in Java using Spring Boot, REST APIs, and relational databases.
• Navigate and contribute to multiple codebases (greenfield and legacy).
• Handle occasional short non-Java tasks (Node.js, Python) when needed.
• Collaborate with a small team; communicate progress and flag blockers early.
• Use AI tools effectively to support development work.
• Learn DevOps practices over time (CI/CD, Docker, deployments).
• Work in agile iterations with quick feedback loops.

Requirements

• Java experience (academic, personal projects, or commercial) and ability to write/reason about Java code.
• Understanding of object-oriented design principles and ability to make design decisions.
• Basic backend knowledge: REST APIs, HTTP, relational databases, SQL.
• Ability to read, understand, and work with code you didn’t write.
• Strong English skills (written and spoken).
• Self-organization and proactive communication for remote work.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Spring / Spring Boot.
• Any exposure to JavaScript/TypeScript or Python.
• Familiarity with Git, Docker, and CI/CD concepts.
• Experience with Maven or Gradle.
• Personal projects, open-source contributions, or a GitHub profile.
• Experience using AI development tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, etc.).
