Description

Builder Infrastructure is the foundation of the Builder Platform, powering the infrastructure and networking behind global remittance operations. The Director of Engineering leads three teams—Cloud Engineering, Container Platform, and Infrastructure Security—setting multi-year direction and being accountable for infrastructure velocity, reliability, security posture, and cost. The role runs infrastructure as a product, drives AI-operated infrastructure with policy-governed agent actions, and owns end-to-end security from identity to continuously rebuilt hardened images.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver a multi-year Builder Infrastructure strategy aligned with regional, account, and service growth

• Design domain boundaries and an ownership model so teams ship independently behind clear interfaces

• Lead and develop engineering managers and senior engineers; build bench and succession plans

• Run infrastructure as a product using adoption, lead time, and toil as success measures; provide paved roads and published APIs

• Set direction for AI-operated infrastructure, including agent provisioning, patching, upgrades, and remediation under policy with human approvals for risky changes

• Own platform security end to end, including least-privilege identity for people/workloads/agents and hardened image supply chain

• Make high-impact tradeoffs across reliability, security, cost, and delivery speed; rebalance investment between new capabilities and technical debt

• Manage infrastructure spend as unit cost with finance and engineering leadership; fund scalable investments

• Partner across Security, SRE, Builder Experience, and product engineering; represent the domain to the executive team

• Establish mechanisms for visibility into team health, delivery, and operational quality without excessive oversight

Requirements

• Experience leading multiple infrastructure or platform teams through engineering managers (ideally across countries/time zones)

• Track record setting and delivering a multi-year infrastructure strategy that improved how engineering organizations build and ship

• Experience designing engineering organizations: team boundaries, headcount planning across geographies, and elevating engineering management quality

• Experience scaling infrastructure ahead of business growth with sublinear headcount via automation, self-service, and API-driven control planes

• Depth across cloud, container, and identity systems sufficient to review large-scale designs and justify architectural evolution

• Experience running infrastructure in a regulated environment with security and compliance as design constraints

• Executive-level credibility (C-suite), translating infrastructure risk, cost, and investment into business terms

• A practical point of view on how AI agents change infrastructure operations and the shape of teams that run them

Compensation

Starting base salary range: zł 576,000–648,000 per annum
