Description

You will shape and implement a unified DevOps/platform foundation for an on-premise CI/CD and container infrastructure, transitioning toward a central Kubernetes cluster. Working closely with software development and IT, you will analyze the current landscape, define a target architecture and roadmap, and build and operate core platform components. The role also includes introducing Infrastructure as Code and automated build/test/deployment workflows, and improving monitoring, logging, security, and secrets management.

Responsibilities

• Develop a clear technical target architecture with software development and IT and implement it step by step

• Analyze the existing DevOps, CI/CD, and container landscape, including requirements and dependencies

• Create a viable target architecture and a realistic, prioritized roadmap

• Build, operate, and further develop central CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes platform components; analyze and permanently resolve cross-system incidents

• Introduce and expand Infrastructure as Code and automated build, test, and deployment processes

• Plan and implement pilots, integrations, and migrations while considering ongoing operations

• Further develop monitoring, logging, security, and secrets management concepts

• Define technical standards, interfaces, and operational responsibilities with software development and IT

• Moderate technical alignment, and document and communicate decisions, risks, and next steps

• Advise development teams; provide mentoring and knowledge transfer

• In the first months: perform an assessment, align on a target picture, deliver a prioritized roadmap, and implement initial improvements

Requirements

• Multi-year experience in DevOps, Platform, Systems, or Infrastructure Engineering

• Strong knowledge of Linux, CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automated deployments

• Ability to analyze heterogeneous system landscapes and derive a technical target architecture plus a step-by-step implementation plan

• Ability to make technical decisions balancing reliability, maintainability, and security with development-team needs

• Proactive requirement gathering; early clarification of ambiguities; transparent assumptions and dependencies

• Ability to clearly explain technical relationships and trade-offs and mediate stakeholder perspectives toward shared decisions

• Independent, pragmatic, solution-oriented work style and willingness to transfer knowledge

• Good English skills; German is beneficial for cross-functional collaboration
