Description

The Department of Ophthalmology at UCSF is seeking a dynamic, skilled Pediatric Ophthalmologist for a full-time faculty position. The role includes advanced, high-complexity pediatric ophthalmic surgeries and managing a broad spectrum of pediatric eye conditions across outpatient and hospital settings, with responsibilities that may expand to additional East Bay campuses. The position also supports mentorship, education, and administrative involvement to drive program development and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide pediatric ophthalmology patient care primarily at the Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland campus; expand to other East Bay campuses over time
• Perform advanced, high-complexity pediatric ophthalmic surgeries
• Manage a diverse range of pediatric eye conditions in outpatient and inpatient settings
• Contribute to clinical program development, quality improvement, mentorship, and education
• Participate in administrative responsibilities as appropriate

Requirements

• MD (or equivalent)
• California medical license or eligibility for full, unrestricted licensure by time of hire
• Board-certified/eligible in Ophthalmology
• Fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus by time of hire
• Strong surgical skill set
• Demonstrated leadership qualities and interest in mentorship, education, and administrative responsibilities
