• Role: Platform Management Team Lead

Description

Lead the Platform Management team to ensure stable, secure, and economical operation of server and OS-adjacent IT environments—on-prem and in cloud. You own operating system and server landscape operation and development, including patching, updates, maintenance, and incident/problem/change management. You drive standardization and automation and collaborate with IT architecture, information security, business units, and external service providers.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership for the Platform Management team and develop team members

• Ensure stable, secure, and cost-effective operation of Windows and Linux environments on-prem and in the cloud (including VMware, AWS, Azure, GCS)

• Operate and further develop OS and server landscape as the core focus

• Steer patch, update, and maintenance processes for operating systems and connected applications to ensure availability and security

• Own incident, problem, and change management processes

• Work closely with business units, IT architecture, information security, and external service providers

• Drive advancement of system and server landscapes via standardization, automation, and targeted use of cloud technologies

• Handle budget and capacity planning and maintain clear documentation of systems, operating processes, and responsibilities

Requirements

• Completed degree or training with an IT focus (e.g., Computer Science, Business Informatics, Systems Integration) or equivalent experience

• Several years of proven experience operating Windows or Linux operating systems, including virtualized server environments and storage systems

• Practical experience with VMware-based environments

• Experience with backup and operational concepts

• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid operating models is beneficial

• Initial or developed leadership/control experience (e.g., team lead or project leadership)

• Very good German (at least B2)

• Structured, decision-capable working style, including in critical operations

• Communication skills, teamwork, and strong service orientation
