Description

You lead the Cloud Operations team responsible for the reliable operation and continuous improvement of the SaaS cloud platform. The role emphasizes stability, availability, performance, and security, along with modern DevOps/Platform Engineering practices using automation, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and observability. You also mentor the team and prioritize between stable operations, automation, technical debt, and platform modernization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Cloud Operations team (technical and disciplinary), define clear responsibilities, and enable independent decisions
• Develop team members through mentoring, coaching, and regular feedback; strengthen knowledge transfer and engineering culture
• Ensure reliable operation of SaaS solutions and guarantee stability, availability, performance, and security
• Structure incident/problem handling and drive root-cause analyses to derive sustainable improvements
• Advance monitoring, alerting, and observability; establish operations standards and meaningful service/operations metrics
• Build a modern, scalable platform for operating SaaS products, including a path toward container and orchestration technologies
• Automate provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operational processes; expand Infrastructure as Code, container technologies, and CI/CD
• Standardize and automate customer and application environments to ensure an auditable, traceable SaaS operations process
• Prioritize with the team across stable operations, automation, technical debt, and platform modernization
• Collaborate closely with Development, DevOps, Security, and Architecture to evolve platform architecture and deployment processes

Requirements

• Multi-year experience operating mission-critical SaaS, cloud, or platform environments
• At least 2 years of experience with private cloud technologies
• At least 2 years of experience in team leadership
• Leadership responsibility or extensive functional responsibility for teams, with experience developing employees
• Production operations experience for Java applications and understanding requirements for stable, scalable, automatable operations
• Experience with DevOps and platform engineering approaches
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and observability
• Experience standardizing and automating deployment, configuration, and operations processes
• Familiarity with Linux-based systems and networking (reverse proxies, load balancing, storage concepts)
• Knowledge of security, backup and recovery, high availability, and traceable operations processes
• Experience with container technologies; Kubernetes platform build and operations is a plus
• IBM i/iSeries knowledge is a plus
• Analytical and conceptual thinking with hands-on mindset
• Very good German and good English proficiency
